Why I Joined Netic: Alan Yu
My Philosophy
People tend to debate what matters more: the journey or the destination. For me, it's always the people you take the journey with.
Startups are unpredictable - things break, priorities shift, and the outcomes don’t always go your way. So Milestones and achievements matter, but what really stays with you are the people and moments along the way. The laughter in chaos, late nights and weekends, and travel adventures getting to customers are what make the journey worthwhile.
I try to live a life where I don’t regret the outcome, no matter what it is. The best way I know how is to find fulfillment in the process and in the people. If you enjoy the craft, if you’re learning every day, and if you love the team around you, then you’re already winning.
Why I Joined Netic
After Scale, many chose the large company route or took more traditional exits, but that never felt right for me. I wanted my work to feel more tangible than training large models. And after many years serving large tech companies, it was exciting for me to focus on building where I could see the end user. I’ve never been someone who’s satisfied taking the easy or boring route. I care about doing something that’s fun, that has meaning, and that’s worth the time I’ll never get back.
When I reconnected with Melisa and met the team of 4 before me, I knew this is where and who I want to be with. Our team has grown but our hearts have stayed the same. Neticians are sharp, humble, and deeply invested in doing things the right way. We all have our own style - loud versus quiet drive - but drive is undoubtedly in all of us. You could feel it in every conversation, every speed walk / run, every second we spend together.
Everyone moves with care. Problems don’t sit around waiting to be fixed. People step up, take ownership, and help each other grow. It’s the kind of team that makes hard things enjoyable - the late nights, the impossible bugs, the little wins that turn into big ones. That’s the energy I wanted to be around again.

Early-stage startups attract a certain kind of person. No one is here for an easy ride, but for a meaningful one. Someone who cares about building something meaningful and additive for the world.
At Netic, I’m surrounded by people who love what they do and who make it fun. That’s all I’ve ever wanted: to do great work with great people on the journey.
If that’s how you’re wired, you want to grow fast, and you want to laugh at the chaos along the way, then you’ll fit right in here.
